2024 "ICE OUT" March 14, 2024

 

Thank you to the Mishous for keeping the tradition of declaring the Matthews Lake "ICE OUT."  

The definition of "ICE OUT" on Matthews Lake is that ALL the ice is gone from the surface of the water. If there are floating islands of ice anywhere, then the ice is NOT out.

 

Matthews Lake Associations "Mardi Gras" Gala has been cancelled due to warming weather and unsafe ice. But don't worry...Matthews Lake will have an "Opening of the North" Gala on May 26, 2024.  Save the date.

3rd Annual Matthews Lake Gala Saturday, February 24.

Save the date on February 24, 2024 for another fun filled day to connect with friends and family.

Wisconsin Land Owner Grant Program

Lisa Burns, Conservation Coordinator, has shared information for land owners about a grant to help with forest stewardship plan development.  Please see the following brochure if you are interested in learning more about preserving your forest land or visit dnr.wi.gov and search for WFLGP.

Matthews Lake Free Little Library

Please visit the "Free Little Library" located on Lodge Road near County Road F.  

Thank you to our Ladies of the Lake representatives for your work to bring the library to Matthews Lake.

September 2nd, 2023 Matthews Lake Member Meeting

Please join us on Saturday, September 2nd at 10:00 am for our annual Labor Day meeting.  

The meeting will be held at the Nicklebys' home (N10720 Byrkit Road, Trego)

Dock Dash Event Cancelled on August 26

The August 26 Dock Dash Event has been cancelled due to the discovery of Hybrid Eurasion Milfoil in Matthews Lake.  Please read emails that have been sent to MLA members with more information about how your MLA board is working to mitigate the invasive species and what you can do to help.

2023 Matthews Lake Boat Parade

Matthews Lake Fourth of July Boat Parade

Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 11:00 am

       

Decorate your boat and fill your water guns for the annual Independence Day boat parade on Matthews Lake is scheduled for Sunday, July 2, 2023 based on input from members at our Memorial Day meeting. (Weather delay date is Monday, July 3, 2023)

Cruise, paddle, row or float to the south side of the lake for an 11:00 am start near the bobber.  Prepare to get wet!

Water balloons are a death blow for the fish and birds who swallow them. But who doesn’t love a great water fight on Matthews Lake?  So, this 4th of July, leave your water balloons at home, but bring your water guns, squirt cannons and soakers and let it fly! FOR THE LOVE OF OUR LAKE

Sunday, July 2nd Boat Parade and Hot Dog Extravaganza

 Greetings Matthews Lake Neighbors,

                   

The Matthews Lake Association is looking forward to our independence day boat parade on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 11:00 am.

                       

Mike and Jill Lipski are hosting a "HOT DOG EXTRAVAGANZA" after the boat parade on the south side of Matthews Lake.  Hot dogs, buns, and condiments are provided.  Please bring a dish to share and your own beverages.  Yard games will be a highlight of the get together as we spend time with our friends and neighbors.

 

Jill and Mike Lipski are hosting a MLA Potluck Picnic at 3:00 - 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 27.  This is our first annual “Opening of the North” for Matthews Lake.  Please bring a dish to share, your beverages of choice, and chairs.  Lipski's home is on the south side of the lake.

"ICE OUT" declared April 25, 2023

 

The ice is officially OUT on Matthews Lake as of Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  

Majestic birds of feathered grace

 

Majestic birds of feathered grace,

Loons glide upon the water's face,

Their haunting calls pierce through the air,

A melody that's beyond compare.

With sleek black coats and beady eyes,

Loons dive deep beneath the skies,

And from the depths they'll soon emerge,

Their beauty captivating and absurd.

In lakes and ponds they make their home,

A regal presence they have shown,

And those who witness their grandeur,

Are forever changed by their allure.

So here's to loons, a sight to see,

A symbol of nature's harmony,

May we always protect their space,

And cherish them with loving grace.
